Keep this short and sweet. For the parents and for yourself.
Parent Meeting for Chargers 98-99 Season
Intro you and assistant.
Coaches goals.
The kids learn to play better soccer.
They learn about sportsmanship (they
make some new friends)
#1 GOAL is The kids have FUN !!!!!!
Team Goals and Cheer = Play hard, play fair,
have FUN
(tell the parents we don’t care if we lose 100-1 as long as the kids
Play hard, play Fair, HAVE FUN. These are very achievable goals. A lot
better than our goal is to win all of our games.)
Parent Conduct-
What is acceptable- nice run, great job, good hustle
What isn’t acceptable- Shoot, pass, boot it. Any instructions.
(Why the parents should not yell instructions? Tell the parents there is
a lot of stimuli on the field. For instance,#1 a player receiving a long
ball has to think about the pass coming to him, #2 he has to think about
the defender, #3 he has to thinking about where the goal is, #4 he is thinking
about where his team mates are,#5 he thinking about what the coach
told him to do. THEN his parent yells something, and the player,
who has been trained his whole life to listen to his parent, STOP. Looks at his parent and ughhhh misses the soccer ball. The game is the best teacher, and what the game
does not teach them, they
will learn in practice. You may want to put this in print.
Parents
Conduct towards the Referees
The
coaches and the players will never argue with the refs. Not matter what the
call is we will say “good call ref”. Here is why
The
referee don’t make bad calls on purpose, most refs are young, if he quits, that
is one less ref and he may have been a real good one. LASTLY, I have never seen
a ref change his call, so why make enemies,,, if it real bad I will talk to him
on the side at halftime.
So parents, NO ARGUING WITH THE REFS
This is critical, we need to groom good refs and we cant do that if they
quit after the first season because of abuse from the sidelines. Then everyone
will complain we don't have enough refs..
Practices are all plan out, please arrive on time.
If you cant make a practice or game, please call me.
Playing Time.
Discuss your playing time policy
Open Door Policy, if you have any problem or questions please talk to me.
Don’t let things stew on the Parent Sideline.
